Assistance

Objective

The Ohio Township Trustee Office is responsible for providing prompt, necessary and temporary assistance to eligible applicants of the township whose personal efforts have not enabled them to meet life’s challenges on their own. Short-term assistance is provided through purchase orders (vouchers) for shelter, utilities and burial expenses. Such assistance is paid directly to the landlord, utility and funeral home. The Trustee Office also works with other area community partners in areas in which the township is unable to help.

Individuals 18 years of age and older may apply for assistance, if they live within Ohio Township boundaries, by calling 812-853-8835. Applicants are asked to come to the office at 4333 Epworth Road, Newburgh, IN for a checklist of Required Documentation needed for the eligibility interview.

Once all documents are gathered, the potential client must call the office for an appointment. Applicants are seen Monday through Wednesday, 9 am – 4 pm (closed for lunch, noon – 1 pm) and Thursday, 9 am – noon, by appointment only.

Ohio Township Assistance Guidelines clearly define what aid can be granted.  The Trustee Office strives to provide the most timely and helpful services available.
