Rules

Use/Hours

  • Visitors assume all risks of injury, illness, or damage resulting from visitation to the park.
  • Play at your own risk.
  • Open on a year-round basis from dawn to 10:00 p.m. in spring and summer; fall and winter hours are from dawn to 8 p.m.
  • Other than the Pavilion, the shelter house, all picnic tables and park amenities are provided on first-come, first-served basis.

Pavilion Rental – Engine and Hydrant Rooms

  • A rental agreement is required for individuals renting the Pavilion.
  • Charging admission for any event is prohibited unless authorized by the Trustee.
  • Wipe off tables and chairs before departing and leave the table set-up as you find it.
  • Bag the trash and leave it in the room.
  • To prevent damage to the walls, restrict all wall adhesives to blue painter’s tape.
  • Glitter/confetti is NOT allowed.

Shelter House

  • The open-air shelter house is for public use during park hours only.
  • Clean up after using the shelter. All trash and recyclables must be placed in the designated trash cans before leaving.
  • Electrical outlet available.
  • No water available to the public.

Lake

  • Fishing is permitted around the lake, but not on the observation platform.
  • Individuals must have a valid IN state license.
  • No throwing of rocks, food, etc. in the lake.

Playground

  • Children must always be supervised while using playground equipment. The playground area is designed for safe, active play – rough housing, climbing on non-play structures, and inappropriate use of equipment is strictly prohibited. 

Splash Park

  • Open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • For safety, the splash pad is under video camera surveillance.
  • Splash pad must be vacated at the first sign of thunder or lightning.
  • DO NOT DRINK THE SPLASH PAD WATER. Water is chlorinated and recirculated through the filtration system.
  • Anyone who has or has had diarrhea in the past two (2) weeks shall not use the splash pad.
  • Anyone who has an area of exposed subepidermal tissue, open blisters, cuts, etc., is advised not to use the splash pad.
  • All persons should take a cleansing shower before using the splash pad. A user leaving to use the toilet should take another cleansing shower before returning to the splash pad.
  • Spitting, spouting of water, blowing one’s nose, and similar behaviors are prohibited.
  •  Children under age 13 must always be supervised by a parent or guardian.
  • No running, pushing, jumping, or climbing on the spray equipment to prevent slips and falls.
  • No sitting on the water jets.
  • No bikes, scooters, skateboards, skates or rollerblades in the water spray area.
  • No pets on the splash pad.
  • Food, gum, glass objects, soaps, bubbles or tobacco usage are not permitted in the splash pad.
  • No toys or floats are allowed in the splash pad area.
  • Lawn chairs are permitted on the perimeter, but NOT IN the spray area.
  • Appropriate swimwear and water shoes are required. Regular street clothes are not allowed as they can carry contaminants into the water.
  • Infants and toddlers who are not toilet-trained must use plastic pants with tight fitting elastic at the legs and waist, or swim diapers.
  • Do not change diapers in the splash pad area.
  • Patrons refusing to obey posted rules are subject to removal from the splash pad.

Bathrooms

  • Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.

Showers

  • Wear shower shoes like flip-flops or crocs to prevent the spread of fungi.
  • No personal grooming. No washing clothes and dishes in the shower.

Smoking

  • Ohio Township Park is a smoke-free property.

Soliciation

  • No solicitations of any kind.

Vandalism

  • No person shall injure/damage/pull/cut/dig up any tree, plant, flower, vines or mutilate any of the shrubs, trees or plants of any kind in the park.
  • No person shall cause damage to park structures.
  • Anyone causing damage will be prosecuted.

Littering

  • No person shall drop, throw, or place rubbish in the park (including the lake) except in designated receptacles. Trash shall not be brought into the park for disposal.

Conduct

  • People are forbidden to use threatening, abusive, or indecent language, or commit any indecent act, or fight in the park.
  • No loud noises or music that disturb park users or neighbors is allowed. Excessive noise may result in removal from the park.

Personal Grills

  • Personal grills may be brought in by guests and must be fully extinguished before departure. Do not dispose of hot coal in the park trash cans or on the grass. All coal and debris must be taken away when leaving the park.

Golf

  • Golf practices are prohibited.

Beverages

  • No glass bottles or containers are allowed.

Alcohol

  • Permitted for people over 21 years of age.
  • All Indiana liquor laws are applicable and enforced.
  • If alcoholic beverages are served at an event using bulk containers or catering, the lessee must apply for a permit, provide a licensed bartender, and certificate of liability.
  • No glass bottles or containers are allowed.

Drugs

  • Narcotic drugs or controlled substances are strictly prohibited.

Pets

  • All pets must be under direct control of the owner by means of a leash 6’ or less.
  • Pet owners must clean up after their pets immediately, using a plastic bag or other container (brought with them) to dispose of feces in trash receptacles.

Fireworks

  • Personal fireworks/pyrotechnics are not allowed.

Vehicles

  • Bicycles, motorcycles, scooters, skateboards, skates and rollerblades are allowed on trails, not on sidewalks.
  • Motorized vehicles, except for park equipment, are not permitted on trails or sidewalks.
  • No driving or parking on grass or walkways.

Food Trucks

  • Food trucks must have approval from the Trustee. Space is limited to four (4) trucks, with each vendor supplying their own generator. $50 rental fee per truck.

Additional Equipment

  • Metal detectors are prohibited.
  • Inflatables, bounce houses, tents and other large equipment are not permitted without prior approval of the Trustee and may require proof of insurance.
  • Underground lines are an issue.
