NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARINGS ON THE PROPOSED ESTABLISHMENT OF
THE OHIO TOWNSHIP – CHANDLER FIRE PROTECTION TERRITORY
Notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of Ohio Township and the Town of Chandler, Warrick County, Indiana, that a joint public hearing will be held before the Ohio Township Board and the Chandler Town Council Monday February 9, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. CST at the Ohio Township Event Center, 3433 Libbert Road, Newburgh, IN, 47630 to consider a proposed ordinance, resolution and an interlocal agreement for the establishment of the Ohio Township – Chandler Fire Protection Territory beginning with taxes payable in 2027. Additional joint public hearings of the Ohio Township Board and the Chandler Town Council will be held on Monday March 2, 2026 at the Ohio Township Event Center, 3433 Libbert Road, Newburgh, IN 47630, at 3:00 P.M. CST and also on Monday March 2, 2026 at the Chandler Town Hall,401 E. Lincoln Avenue, Chandler Indiana, 47610, at 7:00 P.M. CST. After the third and final public hearing, the Ohio Township Board and the Chandler Town Council will meet on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 7:00 P.M. CST at the Chandler Town Hall,401 E. Lincoln Avenue, Chandler Indiana, 47610, to vote to either adopt, reject, or table the respective ordinance or resolution and interlocal agreement for the establishment of the Ohio Township – Chandler Fire Protection Territory. If enacted, the ordinance and resolution and interlocal agreement will establish the Ohio Township – Chandler Fire Protection Territory between Ohio Township (Provider Unit) and the Town of Chandler (Participating Unit) and will provide for a uniform tax rate within the territory.
The proposed budget, property tax levy and uniform rate for the Ohio Township – Chandler Fire Protection Territory for the next five years are shown below. The Fire Territory’s tax rate and levy will be phased in over a period not to exceed 5 years. Proposed levies represent maximum amounts. Tax rates are estimates and could vary based on certified net assessed values.
